Thanks for subscribing to my substack blog. Welcome to my second post!
I realised that in the excitement of launching my first post I forgot to share an introduction of what this is and what you can expect. I’ll be starting out primarily with car related content, including stories and experiences from life in Dubai. Today’s post and the one before it belong to an ongoing series I am calling ‘FK’s Dream Car Garage’.
In addition to FK’s Dream Car Garage, my hope is to also share blogs on other topics covering travel (including road trips around the Emirates) and exploring topics of health and wellbeing.
My aim is to share something with you once a month and gradually train my writing muscle to increase the frequency of posts. It would be great to create a community of enthusiasts, so please hit ‘reply’ and let me know if there’s any specific cars or related topics you’d like me to write about.
Dubai Auto Madness
It’s November in Dubai. The weather has eased, the tourists are back, and the car show calendar is filling up nicely. On the first weekend of November it was the turn of AutoMadness at the Dubai Autodrome. It promised to showcase an array of cars, from modern day supercars, JDM classics, through to custom creations. There was also the prospect of seeing these special cars out on the racetrack and the drag strip. There were stalls dedicated to a selection of automotive businesses, specialist mechanics’s shops, exhaust fabricators, and even someone selling body panels from old F1 cars as home decor! It didn’t disappoint, with plenty of revvy engines, loud exhausts, and special cars & bikes to admire.
As per usual, I’m always looking for cars to join the FK Dream Car Garage and here are my top 3 picks from the show….
Lamborghini Gallardo Tricolore
There’s always space for a Lamborghini. Amongst the Huracans on show, this post 2008 facelift Gallardo stood out the most. The gold/bronze wheels are an instant hit, beautifully complimented by the Italian ‘tricolor’ and pearl white paint. Specifically known as the LP 550-2 Tricolore, this version of the Gallardo was released to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Italian Reunifaction. Gallardo values are still at relatively sane levels, likely due to the V10 it shares with cheaper Audio R8. For me the Gallardo is just that little bit more special.
Here’s an orange convertible Gallardo for sale, yours for $75,000
Porsche 911 GT3 RS

A-E-R-O-D-Y-N-A-M-I-C-S is what this car is all about. The massive rear wing and the cleverly designed air scoops, and vents have doubled the amount of downforce at top speeds compared to the previous generation GT3 RS. The power comes from a naturally aspirated flat 6 that takes the GT3 from standing to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The ultimate 911 for the track.
Here’s one with red alloys and the Weissach pack (making it even more motor sporty…) listed at $500,000
Porsche 911 Dakar
This is a regular 911 that’s been on a diet of grass fed steaks and doesn’t skip the creatine after the gym. The upgraded ride height and all terrain tyres aren’t just for the aesthetic, the 911 Dakar has serious off road capabilities. The Porsche Active Suspension Management system gains two further drive modes, Rallye and Offroad. The modes give you a choice between maximum traction to tackle the dirt roads and the ability to make it a cross-country cruiser. A perfect car for both the Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khatim desert.
Apparently they’re all sold out at Porsche dealers so you’ll have to pay a pretty premium if you want one. If you fancy the one in the photo above, it can be yours for $460,000

'This is a regular 911 that’s been on a diet of grass fed steaks and doesn’t skip the creatine after the gym' 😂 great content!
